Satellite images available soon for all of Wisconsin

Following up on an announcement earlier in the year regarding the availability of high-resolution imagery for the Madison area, and Racine/Kenosha Counties, WisconsinView recently made similar imagery of the Milwaukee area available for free.  Anyone interested can visit the WisconsinView Data Portal Login page for more information. (Click on the "USGS Urban" tab once you are registered.)

Flown in the summer of 2007 by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey and the Southeast Regional Planning Commission, the imagery for the Milwaukee area is color with a 1-foot spatial resolution.  It covers Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Ozaukee Counties, along with a small portion of Washington County.

In addition to the high-resolution imagery, WisconsinView is popularly know as the main Wisconsin distribution site for National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) data.

WisconsinView seeks to make satellite and aerial imagery more accessible to users in Wisconsin, and is part of the national AmericaView Consortium.  It is administered by the UW-Madison Environmental Remote Sensing  Center (ERSC), part of the UW Space Science & Engineering Center.
